Interior decoration of the imposing 'Church of the Resurrection of Christ' in St.Petersburg Russia. The church is known as the 'Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood', funded by the Romanov imperial family in honor of the Emperor of Russia Alexander II, one of the main sights of St. Petersburg.
The medieval Russian architecture in the spirit of romantic nationalism of the 'Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood', differs from St. Petersburg's architecture, which is predominantly Baroque and Neoclassical. It resembles the 17th-century Yaroslavl churches and the celebrated St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.
The Church contains over 7500 square meters of mosaics, more than any other church in the world.
The interior was designed by ones of the most celebrated Russian artists, as Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Nesterov and Mikhail Vrubel.
