Beschreibung: The world record for the longest passenger train has been set on 29 October, 2022 by built in Switzerland an almost 2-kilometer-long train (1,910m), as part of celebrations for the 175th anniversary of railways in the country.
The journey for the world record has been organised by the Rhaetian Railway company, the first railway of Switzerland and took around an hour along the UNESCO World Heritage Albula/Bernina route from Preda to Alvaneu and over the Landwasser Viaduct.
It’s regarded as one of the most spectacular train routes in the world thanks to amazing Alpine views, passing through scenic valleys, mountains, 22 tunnels, dozens of viaducts, 48 bridges and many picturesque quaint mountain towns.
The train was composed by 25 electric trains connected each other, while each of them had four carriages making the total of 100 passenger coaches with 4,550 seats.
The train was dismantled once the journey was completed into its separate parts and they will be used for regular traffic.
