Description: Trifon Zarezan is a popular Bulgarian holiday of vine-growers and wine-makers, which is celebrated officially on February 1st when the Orthodox Church honours Saint Triphon, one of the most glorified saint-healers and patron saint of wine, and on 14 February in accordance with the Julian calendar. The feast on the Day of Trifon Zarezan marks the end of winter and the coming spring, with rituals for fertility and first pruning of the vineyards for encouraging the growth of the vines.
