The leopard (Panthera pardus) is the smallest from the large carnivores as the tiger, lion and jaguar, called the 'big cats' of the Felidae family. The leopard which is distributed from Siberia to South Africa is secretive, elusive, shrewd, mainly a nocturnal animal, the strongest climber, which is capable of killing prey far larger than itself.
