Golden mask of Tutankhamun's mummy in close-up, a popular icon for ancient Egypt, which is at a permanent display in the Museum of Antiquities in Cairo, because is too delicate to travel with the exhibition. The glittering funereal mask, which protected the head and shoulders of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun (1343 BC-1325 BC), was shaped from a whole piece 24 karat gold.
