'The Jewess’ (ca 1908, oil on canvas, private collection) is one of the most popular portraits by Amedeo Modigliani, the painter with Italian-Jewish background, which was exhibited in the ‘Salon de Independents’ in 1908 and was the first painting which he sold after his settling in Paris. ‘Head of Young Woman’ (1908, oil on canvas, Musee d'Art Moderne, Villeneuve d'Ascq, France) is one of famous portraits of women, painted during Modigliani’s early years in Paris.
